United Through Reading
One of the most difficult things a child can experience is having a parent separated from them for an indeterminate period of time. Family dynamics often change during deployments and can cause stress for a military child. United Through Reading offers children the opportunity to see their parent’s face and hear their reassuring voices.
With a simple story stress is reduced and fears vanish while providing support to the parent that remains behind. Through United Through Reading, Military families have found a special way to stay connected.
How it Works: Service members who are separated from their children, read children’s books aloud on video for the child to watch at home.
How to Participate: Call (915) 744-3480 or come by USO El Paso on East Bliss at 20727 Constitution Ave. to set an appointment.
